Accessibility and Safety

Our hope is that Brunswick Pride feels accessible and safe to all those who attend!

Accessibility

Accessibility accommodations include

  • ASL interpreters
  • Chairs near the main stage
  • Accessible porta potties
  • Sensory-friendly tent

Please note: The Brunswick Pride festival is located on the Brunswick Town Mall, which is a large grassy area. There are paved sidewalks surrounding the Mall. There are slight inclines in the grass towards the center of the Mall. The main stage will be located in the gazebo and will include sound projection.

Please let us know if you have any concerns or accessibility needs not listed above. You can reach out at info@brunswickpride.org.

Safety

Safety is the most important element of the Pride planning process. We take safety very seriously and have developed comprehensive plans to respond to emergency situations.

The Brunswick Pride Planning Committee is in conversation with the local Brunswick Police Department regarding the sensitivity of police in LGBTQIA+ spaces. Brunswick PD supports Pride throughout our planning process and will be at the Festival, per town requirements. The few Brunswick Police officers that will be present at the Festival were invited there by the Pride Committee.

Pride Committee members have also been trained in de-escalation and violence prevention by Prevention Action Change. Learn more here.

Though we do not anticipate violence or harassment, there is a potential for counter-protesters at the festival. We ask all guests to not engage with the haters. We’ve got better stuff to do – like dance and celebrate queer joy!
